Haiku 5.5 arrived on October 7, built for high-volume, low-cost tasks. Max and Team plans also get monthly API credits.
What happened
According to Claude's official release notes, Claude Haiku 5.5 launched on October 7, 2026. Anthropic calls it the cheapest, fastest and most capable small model it has released, designed for high-volume, cost-sensitive tasks.
In its newsroom, Anthropic also lists Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Opus 5.5 among recent announcements; it says Opus 5.5 performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 on most work and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5.
Another update
Max and Team plans now include monthly API credits to run your own apps and agents on the Claude Platform. They roll out over a few days and are claimed by linking a Claude Console organization in billing settings.
What it means for you
"Small" models handle the repetitive work: answering frequent messages, sorting emails, summarizing notes or writing dozens of product descriptions. Cheaper models make automating customer support more realistic without the bill exploding.
