Gemini introduces "skills": reusable prompts so you don't retype the same thing

Google added skills to the Gemini app and Workspace. And AI voiceovers in Google Vids now use the Gemini 3.8 Flash Lite TTS model.
What happened
Per Google's release notes, Gemini and Google Workspace now include "skills": reusable prompts that guide Gemini. Instead of retyping the same instructions every time (your brand tone, your quote format, how you summarize a meeting), you save them once and reuse them.
In the same list of updates, Google says the voices and narrator avatars in Google Vids now run on the Gemini 3.8 Flash Lite TTS model, aiming for more natural and expressive voiceovers.
What it means for you
Consistency is the hardest part when you work alone or with a small team: all your texts sounding alike, your emails keeping the same style. Saving your instructions as a skill helps with that.
Practical idea: create a skill with your "brand voice" in five lines (how you talk, words you avoid, how you close a message) and use it for emails, ads and posts.
