Apple unveiled HomeView, its first smart display for the home. It has a 7-inch square screen and comes in two versions: one with a speaker base and one for wall mounting. Pre-orders opened October 13 at $299 and it starts arriving to customers on November 13.
What it includes
- An A18 chip and a camera that, per PopSci, recognizes up to six people in the house.
- Smart home control, hands-free FaceTime calls and interaction with the revamped AI Siri.
- According to The Wall Street Journal as cited by MacDailyNews, its edge over Amazon and Google displays is deep access to data already on your iPhone.
Things to keep in mind
- The most personal Siri features depend on a paired iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence.
- The wall-mounted version does not include a cable or a 20W-or-higher adapter; mounts are sold separately from $59.95.
- Prices are for the U.S. and availability will be in select countries.
- Apple also announced a new Apple TV 4K ($299) and the HomePod mini 2 ($149, from October 30).
What about me?
