Notion rebuilds its agents: they can now work on a single task for more than 24 hours

Notion announced a rebuilt version of its AI agents: tasks go from five minutes to more than 24 hours, with an "Auto" router the company says costs about 90% less.
If you use Notion to run your business, this update hits close to home. The company announced that its AI agents were rebuilt and that they can now work on a single task for more than 24 hours, up from a five-minute limit.
What changed
- Long tasks. According to Notion, each session runs on a dedicated service, so work keeps going through restarts and hiccups. That is how a task can last a full day.
- "Auto," a smarter model router. It sends each task to the model that best balances quality, speed and cost. Notion says it delivers results similar to frontier models at about 90% lower cost.
- A new credit system. Business and Enterprise seats include 1,500 Standard credits per month (when Notion picks the model) and 500 Select credits per month (when you pick the model or run custom agents).
Why it matters
For a small business, the idea is to hand off repetitive work—recurring research, checking lists, multi-step content flows—inside the same tool where you already keep your notes and projects, without overpaying for every step. Notion also says it added seven new models in the past month with partners such as Anthropic, OpenAI and open-weight providers, and that when better models are released it evaluates them and Auto can start using the providers you have approved right away, without you having to track every release.
The credits on those plans are per seat and do not roll over from one month to the next, so it is worth checking how many your team uses before delegating big tasks.
