In Q3, the Super Intelligence segment booked $7.56 billion, nearly triple Q2, with customers including Anthropic and Google.
Behind every chatbot and image generator there are data centers, and renting them out has become big business.
The numbers
SpaceX reported that its AI unit, Super Intelligence, booked $7.56 billion in revenue in the third quarter, nearly triple the $2.56 billion in the second. That figure outranks Starlink, which logged $5.25 billion. According to one results summary, the segment is roughly 52% of total revenue and grew 830% from the prior year.
Where the money comes from
The segment rents computing capacity to customers including Anthropic, Google and Reflection AI. On the earnings call, Elon Musk said SpaceX prefers short-term compute contracts because he expects each watt of computing to earn more as AI models improve.
Spending
The company reported capital spending of $19.6 billion in the quarter, with $16.4 billion going toward the AI segment.
Why it matters to you
Figures like these show how much money is moving so the tools you use every day can exist. It won't change your work tomorrow, but it explains why AI companies compete so hard for computing capacity.
