Seven Vera Rubin racks inside a container that ships by truck and connects to other containers. Nvidia says that, at a prepared site, deployment drops from six months to as little as 14 days; deliveries are expected to start in early 2027.
At the GTC Berlin event on October 21, Nvidia introduced DSX POD, a reference design for complete Vera Rubin AI factories built by partners inside modular containers, integrated and validated before delivery.
The facts
- According to CNBC, each DSX POD puts seven Vera Rubin racks into a shipping container roughly the size of a standard one, weighing about 28,000 kilograms and able to ship by truck on normal roads. The cabling and liquid cooling are assembled at the factory.
- Once on site, the container is placed, connected to the other containers and validated through final testing, according to Ian Buck, Nvidia's vice president of hyperscale computing, quoted by CNBC.
- Nvidia says it cuts deployment time from six months to as little as 14 days, at a site already prepared with power, cooling and networking.
- No price was announced. CNBC cites analysts saying a single Vera Rubin rack can cost more than $7 million.
- Partners such as Foxconn, Gigabyte, Lenovo, HPE, Quanta and Pegatron will build it. Nvidia expects deliveries to begin in early 2027.
What it means
It is an infrastructure story: not something you will buy or use directly. Nvidia presents it as a way to move to the factory the integration and installation work normally done on site, so customers can start operating their AI data centers sooner. Nvidia said the product is for customers worldwide and could help address deployment challenges faced by European customers.
