It was announced on October 28, two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon. It costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
On Wednesday, October 28, Google introduced Gemini 4 Carbon, which it describes as its strongest model to date. Reuters reports the launch comes two weeks after Gemini 4 Argon and aims to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic in coding and cybersecurity systems.
What Google says. According to Reuters, Carbon delivers state-of-the-art performance on cybersecurity tasks such as discovering vulnerabilities, exploiting them and patching software. It generates secure code at more than twice the success rate of Argon on internal benchmarks and is designed for long, complex engineering and coding tasks.
Who can use it. It is not for everyone yet. It is offered first to a group of cybersecurity defenders through Google's Fairwind Program, while the company keeps testing safeguards. So far there is no public date for consumers, general developers or businesses at large.
Price. Introductory API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, the same as Gemini 4 Argon's introductory price.
What it means for you. If you don't code or work in IT security, you won't be using it soon. It is a signal of where the competition among the big AI companies is heading, and that Google keeps releasing models just weeks apart.
