It is in ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API for paid plans. OpenAI pitches it for repetitive work, like reading invoices and entering them into accounting software.
On Monday, October 26, OpenAI introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, its medium-sized model. According to 9to5Mac, it replaces GPT-5.6 Terra, and OpenAI highlights its speed, its handling of the computer and a lower price.
What changes. TechTarget reports it is 50% cheaper than its previous version and that this is the fourth consecutive time OpenAI has cut model prices, amid pressure from open-weight models from Chinese vendors such as Alibaba, Baidu and Z.ai. OpenAI describes it as a model that combines detailed visual reasoning, precise computer use and clearer, more natural writing.
What it's for. PYMNTS notes it is practical for automating high-volume work, such as reading invoices and entering their information into accounting software. TechTarget adds tasks like drafting proposals, filling out forms and editing videos.
Who can use it. It is available to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and to developers through the API. It is not for the free plan.
What to do with this. If you already pay for ChatGPT, you can try it on repetitive tasks that eat your time every week. If you use the API in a business, the 50% cut could change your numbers. Run a small test and compare it with what you use today.
