Gemini can now create and edit PDFs, Docs, Sheets and slides right inside the chat

Google announced that Gemini lets you generate, preview and fix documents without leaving the conversation. PDFs work on mobile and web; Docs, Sheets, Slides and other files are web-only for now.
If you use Gemini to put together proposals, summaries or guides, this saves you steps. Google added the ability to create, preview and edit documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets and code directly inside Gemini conversations. You could already ask for a file and download it; now you can keep working on it without starting over.
What you can do
- Generate a PDF from your notes or reports inside the chat.
- Open the file full screen, review it and fix it yourself.
- Highlight part of the text and ask Gemini to rewrite it, answer a question or create a chart.
- Also work with Google formats (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and with text, Markdown or code files.
An example for your business
Say you have notes from a client meeting. You give them to Gemini, ask for a proposal as a PDF, review it in the same window, highlight the pricing paragraph and ask it to explain it more clearly. All in a single conversation.
Availability and limitations
- According to Digital Trends, Google says the new capabilities are available to all users in the languages and regions where the Gemini app is supported.
- PDF preview and editing work on both mobile and web. Google Docs, Sheets, presentations, Markdown, TXT and code files, however, are currently supported on the web only.
- Android Police notes that these capabilities are tied to Workspace and that only subscribers on Google One AI plans can take full advantage of them. The two sources don't fully line up on this point, so it's worth checking your account to see what you get.
If you build quotes or summaries with your own style, Ivoka has the Cotizador and the Resumidor de documentos to do it your way.
